The Epitaphios of the Most Holy Theotokos

The embroidery on the epitaphios is according to the model of Novotihvinsky. The icon itself is embroidered according to the fresco of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Perivlepta, with the exception of the Most Holy Theotokos on the odar. They are embroidered according to an icon by Andrei Rizzo, of the Cretan School of Painting, from the late 15th century, today in the Sabuda Gallery in Turin.
